In the past, we have hosted just the 15AAA for the MBT which would bring in 24 teams, mostly from the metro area. This age group uses full size fields and therefore requires us to use the two full size fields at Rochester Baseball Complex and Hudson Field, as well as the high school fields. The Legion programs at all of the high schools have been accommodating over the years, allowing us to bring this event to town and often times they assist with running their own site, serving as a fundraiser for their teams. This year we added the 13A division which will bring 32 additional teams to town. This age group will be a bit easier to manage as all games will be played at Rochester Baseball Complex and McQuillan Fields.
While our staff manages the event, it is really a group effort between a number of organizations. In addition to the Legion programs allowing us to use their fields, we have the Park and Recreation department grooming the six fields at McQuillan we will be using, Rochester Softball Association assisting with concessions, the MBT office handling the scheduling and team registrations, as well as a number of volunteers. The Rochester Youth Baseball Association has had a busy summer running their house league and travel tournaments, and still go above and beyond helping us with our mission. They’ll be managing their house league tournament this weekend, in addition to doing field crew for six of the fields we will be using. Groups such as RYBA relieve a ton of stress and go a long way in making sure a successful event is hosted.
Games will start Friday, July 13th and conclude on Sunday, July 15th. Schedules for both the 15AAA and 13A can be found on our website: https://www.rochestermnsports.org/mbtbaseball
